Nmat 2023 Exam: Notification is out now!

About NMAT Exam

The NMAT By GMAC is the primary aptitude test for admission to SVKM’s NMIMS – for its flagship Mumbai campus as well as all its other campuses and a host of other institutes. Among the major entrance tests conducted annually, NMAT Exam is the only test that allows a student upto three attempts, and treats the best-of-three score for admissions.
It is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which also administers the GMAT.
Some of the prominent institutes (apart from NMIMS) accepting NMAT scores are:
ISB Hyderabad – Advanced Program in Business Analytics
S P Jain – Mumbai
XIM – Bhubaneshwar

Also, from 2020, NMAT has become an “Adaptive” test, which is very different from a standard MCQ based CBT; as it evaluates your performance on each question and accordingly calibrates the subsequent question(s) as well as the marks you will get for them. Your marks per section can range from 12 to 120 based on your performance.

NMAT 2023 Pattern

NMAT exam is a computer-based test spread over two hours. It can be considered a combination of a speed and accuracy test.

NMAT is the only test, apart from CAT, that has sectional timings. Also, like the MHCET, it does not officially have negative marking. However, it penalizes the student for an incorrect answer or an unattempted question due to its adaptive format.

Adaptive Exam
From 2020, NMAT exam (conducted by GMAC) is being conducted in the adaptive format. In this case, depending on your answer to the first question, your next question can be tougher (if your answer is right) or easier (if your answer is wrong). This process continues till the end of the test like the GMAT or the earlier GRE patterns.

Based on your response pattern, your raw score is calculated and then converted into a scaled score ranging from 12 to 120 per section.

Hence, the total test score can range from 36 to 360.
The student can select the test date, time and venue as per his/her convenience and also reschedule the same, as required. The student can re-take the test atleast 15 days after the first attempt.
The overall test pattern is as under:

Section Number of Questions Time (min) Marks (Range)
Language Skills 36 28 12 to 120
Quantitative Skills 36 52 12 to 120
Logical Reasoning 36 40 12 to 120
Total 108 120 36 to 360

Students can select the section order from six possible sequences. However, once the section order has been selected, it cannot be modified.

As per the current pattern, the student gets his/her scaled score preview and the total and sectional scores within 48 hours of taking the test.

Eligiblity for NMAT Exam 2023

The candidate should be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in the first attempt.
Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelors degree/equivalent qualification examination; and those who have completed their degree requirements but are awaiting results can also apply subject to clearing the final examination in the first attempt with 50% aggregate marks. Any admission given to such candidates is purely provisional, and is confirmed only for successful submission of all valid documents.
For all the full-time programs, candidates with two or more years of post-qualification work experience may be preferred.
